Global Youth Report on the State of Migration 2025

This report presents a comprehensive youth-led analysis of migration through four key thematic areas: education, alternatives to detention, health, and human trafficking & labor. Drawing on global data, academic research, and regional case studies, the report highlights the unique challenges faced by young migrants, especially girls and marginalised groups, and emphasises the need for gender-sensitive and age-specific policy responses.

In education, the report reveals significant barriers to access across all levels, from early childhood to higher education, with refugee girls disproportionately affected. Alternatives to detention are advocated as humane, rights-based solutions to harmful immigration practices, showcasing successful models from countries like Kenya, Mexico, and Thailand. The health section underscores systemic inequities in access to care, mental health services, and reproductive health, exacerbated by climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, the report details the growing risks of trafficking and labor exploitation, driven by conflict, economic instability, and restrictive migration policies.

Overall, the report calls for inclusive, data-driven, and rights-based migration governance that empowers youth as agents of change and promotes sustainable development through equitable access to education, health, and safe labour opportunities.
