Youth Wellbeing research project (2024 – 2025) – workshop report

The Youth Wellbeing project aims to improve supports for young people from refugee backgrounds and their families by:

  • developing an approach that service providers and community organisations can use to identify which areas of young people’s lives need the most support and how these supports can be delivered. This may be via a set of questions or a tool tailored to young people from refugee backgrounds and a framework to guide prevention, early intervention and management of mental health issues and support wellbeing.
  • improving understanding of social determinants of mental health for young people from refugee backgrounds

Consultation was held with refugee communities, service providers and community members in multiple states during 2024-2025.

This workshop report will cover the initial findings and the reflections from the workshops with community leaders and advocates, service providers and community organisations, and young people.
